I found out that a few weeks ago, one of my best friends had a stroke. Super smart man that read huge, thick books daily. A college gradute, now forced to read childrens books. I didn’t tell my oldest child the full story but he started to cry and said, “We have tons of books we can give him!… ” He started to the bedroom and wanted to pack them ALL up… I hugged him and sayed he probably had plenty to read. He sniffed, wiping the tears away.
I have messed up things in my life. Hearing and seeing the compassion at that exact moment in time told me, “You are doing something right.”
Parenting isn’t always teaching your children… it’s learning from them too.
